These are in fact the lightest weight and most adjustable straps I’ve ever had and I do love them. That said, as a comment below points out, these are not for beginners and even experienced users can have problems. After many outings, I had the experience of a confluence of events that led to my straps slipping (I still don’t know why, it was probably user error, but strange that I made a mistake on BOTH sides at the same time after having used them for many expeditions; but also strange for it to coincidentally happen at the same time for no reason – could have been a confluence of weather and … who knows?). What was worse was that I absolutely could not undo the knots. I tried everything in me, up to and including (accidentally) injuring my hands from too much force. Later, I learned that there are techniques you can use to make the knots easier to undo… but you have to do it BEFORE you tie the knot, not after. I would give these a five star rating if the marketing and user materials addressed these concerns: That the extra secure knot is not just recommended but REQUIRED to ensure safe use That special techniques are recommended to ensure the knots can always be undone (along with instructions for those techniques) Or, if you don’t want to do all that, at least state up front that these are for experienced users only who have spent a lot of time on Reddit learning how to use them correctly. Which is where I learned how to make the knot more user friendly. I don’t know if this is the case, but a lot of times gear for backpackers assumes that men will be using the gear and does not account for differences in size and strength for people with smaller bodies and less testosterone. I suspect this may be the case here, though I can’t be certain. Regardless, I am buying another set. I had to CUT those straps off the trees, and now I am strapless. I also had to end my trip early because I had no straps. I realize this isn’t entirely the fault of the straps, and that’s why I’m buying another set. But the company could do a better job of educating buyers in how to ensure their equipment doesn’t fail mid-trip.
